Group Sessions
We all need a safe space to talk things through, and group therapy can offer that support, especially if you're navigating a mental health condition or a major life change.
Group therapy brings together 5 to 10 people with similar challenges, guided by one or more therapists. It’s a space where you can find understanding and connection, knowing others are experiencing similar emotions. There are many different approaches to group therapy, each tailored to the needs of the participants and the focus of the group.
As Dr. Allison Chase says, “A big part of the group therapy experience is recognizing that others are struggling with very similar emotions and circumstances, so it’s helpful to have that support.”
In a group setting, you’re encouraged to speak openly about your feelings, knowing others are there to do the same. This gives you a voice and a chance to explore how you’re feeling in real time, which can be both empowering and healing.
Group therapy allows you to discover new ways of communicating. As you connect with fellow group members, you’ll practice expressing yourself and learn how communication impacts relationships. This is especially helpful if you’ve experienced mental health challenges or trauma that may have affected your interactions with others.
